In a weird turn of events, it took #78 Brian Smith until the 3rd week of the season to capture his first win, but boy did he do it in spectacular fashion. Smith led 42 of the 101 laps tonight, and held off hard charges by #48 AJ Green and #10 Kyle Benson. The race had some decent green flag runs, and even a cycle of green flag pitstops. With about 10 to go, all hell broke loose. Drivers required one GWC to complete the event, and on the white flag lap, multiple incidents happened, resulting in some cars finishing without tires and others finishing in reverse. In the end, it was Smith holding off a 3 wide move from AJ Green and teammate #15 Jacob Smith. #93 Cody Kinsey and Benson were close behind, but Smith wheeled it off of 4 to win by just a tenth. Drivers will tackle the same track tomorrow in the Next Gen Cup cars, broadcasted live starting at 9pm EST on MaxSpeedTV.
